Occupied since the 6th century BC, Carcassonne was a Roman city before being a medieval city. It bears witness to 1000 years of military architecture and 2600 years of history. Ultimate defense, the Count's castle was built in the twelfth century by the Trencavel, viscounts of Carcassonne, and was constantly changed over the following centuries. A rich and varied visit is proposed including many exclusive spaces: ramparts, hoardings, projection room, lapidary museum. Guided tours by reservation, conferences or audio guides available. Free entry on the first Sunday of each month (November to March). Work on the hourds will resume from October 9 to March 30, 2018 and will therefore be closed. The tour circuit will be hijacked.
