CONFÉRENCE - ENTRE FIGURATION ET ABSTRACTION, DE KANDINSKY A NICOLAS DE STAEL
Heritage event , Lecture at Carcassonne
- Wednesday May 20 at 5 p.m .: "Between figuration and abstraction, from Kandinsky to Nicolas de Staël" Abstract art is an international movement which dominates a large part of the 20th century. It breaks with the traditional conception of art as an imitation of nature and represents shapes and colors for themselves. But this movement was not created ex-nihilo. Indeed, from the 1910s, many artists gradually moved from figuration to abstraction. Kandinsky, the first, imposed a new language in which large colored masses freely combined with lines, without any reference to the objective world. Then Mondrian, Malevitch, Kupka seek, from the observation of nature, a geometric and mathematical language which rationalizes the vision of the world. The Second World War saw the birth of a new abstraction. Nicolas de Staël also walks between figurative and abstract art. And in its forms are written our feelings, our emotions, our personal tides.
