Rémi Magnouat and Renaud Héléna are both Carcassonnais visual artists. They present at the Chapelle du Petit Saint-Gimer, Casina, an exhibition around the notion of play, the fruit of their meeting and past collaborations. Both graduates of fine arts in Toulouse, they share a common interest in sculpture, the aesthetics of playful objects, their history and their use. Casina is an exhibition designed like the mirror of gaming rooms, a fictitious space where the criteria for success, the systems for betting and competition would be reversed. The artists have developed this exhibition together to present their recent works which tackle different aspects of the game in parallel, such as the model, miniature representations, the decor, rules or storage systems. Renaud Héléna presents a series of play devices, boards and cards, and sculptures in fabric and crepe paper. Rémi Magnouat exhibits a collection of small molded plaster sculptures with simple and familiar shapes. They offer an innovative and original exhibition format, where the public will be invited to manipulate the works and play with them. The Casina exhibition is a place of interaction and exchange where the public can participate in the creative process. Weekly play sessions are organized where the artists are present to accompany the public and play.
