From August 1 to 30, come and discover an exhibition of painting by Serge Griggio in an unusual historic place: The cistern located at the entrance to the Medieval City of Carcassonne. At the origin of the drawings in Indian ink by Serge Griggio: a trip to Tunisia in 2012 the Mediterranean Sea. And what it refers to: infinite space, interior and exterior journeys, sometimes also the scene of human distress ... In his creative process where the painter painstakingly purifies the object observed, the mat has become a graph, the chalet of Gruissan where he stayed in 2014, raft of the jellyfish. Fascinated by the story behind the gigantic work of Géricault, he multiplies sketches and drawings. And sketches that send him back to the burning news of those called the Harragas. These "border burners", illegal immigrants crowded into makeshift rafts that even burn their identity papers and thus lose theirs. In 2014, Serge Griggio devoted an exhibition to them, From one bank to another, as well as to these “high-risk boats”, a series of paintings of rare power. Then, at the request of Avant-Quart editions, he illustrated the book "Le Bateau ivre", a portrait of Rimbaud, published in 2016. Here, fiction meets reality. Serge Griggio, observer of our humanity, begins to imagine the poet, sailing towards the African coasts, meeting men who are leaving a life to try a new one… This is what he proposes to share, through gouache drawings, Indian ink and lithography. Many exhibitions have been devoted to Serge Griggio. He collaborates with national galleries and museums. Her works are found in private collections around the world. Free entry.
