Each year, Philippe Shangti realizes works carrying a very committed message through an aesthetic pushed to its paroxysm and exacerbated colors., Each theme evoked is a source of a collection: pollution, the feminine condition, drugs, torture of animals… “I've always had one leitmotif: denounce the vices of our society, point fingers at human behavior and thus make my art of fighting, to awaken consciences. His photographs are composed like paintings, where his signature appears on the body of his staged models. His works are provocative and transgressive. But let there be no mistake: the artist wishes to convey a strong message through an aesthetic image that will allow us to be remembered. Based in Andorra, he has exhibited all over the world for ten years. In 2019, he represented the principality at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art, which had the theme: "May you live in an interesting time ..." For this year 2020, it is at the Museum of Fine Arts in Carcassonne that Philippe Shangti exhibits; he exposes himself to the eyes of visitors and dares to take possession of this place full of history. Why did you invite Philippe Shangti to the Museum of Fine Arts in Carcassonne? First of all, because he is a committed artist of his time. Second, because it is inspired by the history of art; in his compositions, he refers to antiquity, to biblical symbols: the forbidden fruit, the tempting serpent, the nudity of Eve ... His large-format works, even for some monumental ones, fit perfectly into the rooms of the former presidial. Installations, sculptures and fifteen large format photos will be presented in the temporary exhibition rooms. Philippe Shangti chose a panel from his different collections: "No prostitution here", "Art Vs Drugs", "No pollution here", "No animal killer here" as well as the last collection "Wild Beauty" in which Greek mythology has inspired one of his works which will be presented to the public "The Judgment of Paris". An exhibition that will not leave anyone indifferent.
