This artistic movement was born in the 1910s when geometric shapes gradually replaced the curves favored by Art Nouveau. In Carcassonne we can cite examples such as the Jean Jaurés school, remarkable for its ornamentation, its bas reliefs, its mosaics, the old town hall with its bell tower and its square clock, several buildings in the city center or the Jean Alary Theater, its stone columns and balconies at the corner of the facade. The Association of Friends of the City and City of Carcassonne, in partnership with the City of Carcassonne, is pleased to welcome, on Saturday May 14, Toulouse Art Deco, an association committed to knowing and bringing this heritage to life in Toulouse and throughout the region. The discovery program will begin with the recently renovated college in Warsaw. On the occasion of the arrival of Toulouse Art Deco, the Association of Friends of the City and the City is organizing a conference open to all, presented by Claude Marquié, doctor in History, administrator of the AAVCC "De l'Art New to Art Deco in Carcassonne 1900-1940 »
