From the light of the Middle Ages to the Illuminated Circles of Life Odile Simoulin Since her discovery of illumination, a certain number of years ago, and without any special artistic training, she worked with several "masters" (B. Van Der Bosch, R. Marlier, C. Travers, N. Massé-Bonnaventure) that Odile SIMOULIN was an apprentice of this exceptional art. It was in their workshops that she studied and put into practice the “specific techniques of Illumination”. These encounters enriched his experience and made him want to share it. She has thus led, for several years, workshops and courses of discovery and initiation to illumination with children and adults, in schools, colleges, libraries, and participated in various events and exhibitions in France. and abroad. Initially free reproduction of medieval works, his work opened up to more contemporary and personalized creations. Today, while continuing to create, on demand, works of medieval inspiration, she illuminates "Wheels of medicine" representation of circles of life, birth, inspired by ancestral Amerindian beliefs encountered during travels. This exhibition is a presentation of the evolution of his work over the years. The thirty paintings presented are either free reproductions of medieval works, or unique and original creations of "Wheels of medicine" or "Circles of life", inspired by ancestral and traditional representations of the cosmology of the world. All the paintings are made on parchment (goatskin or goatskin), colored with pigments linked to tempera, and gilded with real gold leaf placed on a mordant or a gilding plate.
