It was at the age of 17 that Samëli took her first steps on stage as a backing vocalist for the group Exil, founded by the Senegalese artist Paamath at the end of the 80s. Then the meetings followed one another and Mélissa accumulated collaborations by integrating different groups with different styles until 2017, when she created Samëli. Samëli is the name of this language that she sings, a dialect that she invented and which gives everyone free rein to their imagination. Playing with emotions is the whole symbol of Samëli, that of sharing, of union: “it binds me”; a common thread, which seduces by the harmony between the singer and her musicians. Released in the fall of 2020, her first album is called "Djobé" and brings together nine tracks written by Mélissa, of which her acolytes composed and arranged the instrumentalization. An album to discover live because, on stage, Mélissa expresses herself with the body and the resonance of her words will find a meaning specific to each soul.
