BIOGRAPHY: Maxime Masquefa, born in 1991 in Carcassonne, is a self-taught artist specializing in painting on canvas. A simple encounter with drawing as a child has become a life story in recent years. It was first in Paris and then in Toulouse that his paintings were exhibited to the public for the first time. This time it is in Carcassonne that his work will be to be discovered from the month of December. The universe told by Maxime Masquefa through his paintings is inspired by the fables and legends that romanticize our existence. The woman holds the major role in most of his representations; whether through the body or through the portrait, it remains the central vector of emotion. Surrealism and fiction are the foundations of the art proposed by Maxime, a contrasting art that offers us a journey between dreams. For him, art remains a pleasure, and it is from this same pleasure that progress comes. The “Fabulations” exhibition will focus on the imaginary stories painted by the artist Maxime Masquefa. As the name suggests, the fable is at the center of the creative process for this exhibition. From mythology to dreams via the planets, it is through some twenty works that the artist will share his interpretation of the legends and fables that have always been able to stimulate our imagination. It is also a tribute to the woman, who is here the passage between our life and the fantastic worlds imagined by the artist. It is through its representation that a mythological romance is born between our legends and our reality. Realism is there to bring us the dreaminess and the escape which are very necessary to us in this difficult period. The works presented are mainly large formats, with a few masterpieces exceeding two meters in wingspan. Most of the works are acrylics on canvas, but other media and techniques will also be available for this exhibition bringing together his work from recent years.
