The exhibition, “The Hundred Years War, a century of fashion” is an exhibition created by Modes d'autrefois. This artisanal company, founded in Caen in September 2012 by Jimmy Lecordier, makes tailor-made clothes from past centuries with great concern for historical fidelity and rigor. The clothes made are the result of scientific research carried out in partnership with Stéphanie Mendes, an amateur costume designer from Caen. Bringing together six couples of models, the exhibition reveals to the public a Middle Ages with rich and shimmering aristocratic finery. This coherent whole covers the period from 1340 to 1460. The costumes allow us to appreciate the vivacity of fashion, the evolution of its models and constitute a visual whole, witness to a pivotal period in the history of fashion in through the emergence of haute couture professions.
