The musical season of Auditorium Thursdays begins with a heartwarming “sunrise”: this is indeed how Haydn's Quartet n ° 4 has been nicknamed, whose initial melody evokes the ray of light inaugurating a joyous day. Overwhelmed by the reading of Tolstoy's short story "The Kreutzer Sonata", Janacek translates it into music in his first quartet. A true 15-minute opera, the work takes up the chronology of the drama until the final murder. In 1893, during his American vacation in Iowa, Dvorak wrote his twelfth quartet which was to be nicknamed "The American". Nostalgic for his country, but surrounded by gospel-song melodies, the composer signs one of his most beautiful quartets. The Ludwig Quartet is one of the pillars of French chamber music. Founded in 1985, it has been awarded in numerous international competitions. Hailed for its artistic rigor, the Ludwig Quartet is invited around the world. For his first visit to Carcassonne, he gives a program bringing together major pieces from the string quartet's repertoire.
